Why Yuva-ite for Yuva Unstoppable?
Yuva Unstoppable is a new approach to social work. This is a national level movement for the youth. We provide platform to the people of this country to contribute 2 hours per week to help underprivileged children. The difference makers are between the ages of 16-40 and are working hard to enlighten the lives of underprivileged children via creative educational tools.
We are working close to 1000 hours per week to make a difference in the lives of many children. This is also a strong attempt to sow the seeds of community service in the minds of today’s college students, who might instead be wasting their time chasing the opposite sex, watching movies and squandering their parents money on eating out. YUVA has successfully started their chapters in Mumbai, Baroda, Khedbrahma & in Vidhyanagar. In short time we are going to start it in Rajasthan and Surat also. We are connected with 45 NGOs in all over India.
Here are some examples of what YUVA Yuva-ites do with the kids:
- Teach subjects such as English, Maths, Science, General Knowledge, etc.
- Be a role model – provide guidance, friendship, career advice, counseling, etc.
- Teach about Indian culture and History.
- Encourage their overall development: teach drama, singing, etc.
- Teach them skills that would generate income – candle-making, arts and craft, plumbing, mechanic work, cosmetology, etc
- Play/Teach sports – cricket, carom, chess, etc.
- Help organize NGO events such as rally’s, special camps, and fund-raisers.
- Time sharing: with kids who are terminally ill or the elderly.
- Act as scribes (reader and writer) for visually challenged children.
- Create awareness about current events, environment, social issues, etc.
