| The Ice cream man |
| On March 16th, 2006,
Parth Vasavda, H.L. First Year College Student was going to Delhi Public School to meet the principal for some work he had. It was a hot and humid afternoon, on his way there he saw a 16 year old boy name Prashanth pushing a small but heavy ice-cream cart. He was sweating profusely as it was 2 p.m.
Parth stopped his vehicle and went up to to the boy and asked his name.
\"Prashanth from Uttar Pradesh\" - the boy said a bit surprised.
\"So how much do you make everyday\" - asks Parth.
\"Oh anywhere from 300-350 rs, but i get to keep 25% of it\" - he said proudly.
\"So how many ice-creams do you eat everyday\"- asked Parth with a smile.
\"Oh maybe just 1 every month. Can\'t afford to eat it really.\" said the boy - \"But what do you want - Chocobar, Mango Dolly, Rasberry Dolly?\"
\"Well what is your favorite Ice-cream?\" asks Parth.
The boy is now wondering what is wrong with this customer -- why is is asking all this questions instead of simply buying an ice-cream and paying him. He was not used to customers talking to him with a smile.
\"Well Chocobar is nice.\" - said Prashanth.
\"I will take it then.\" Parth responded.
Prashanth took out the Choco-bar from his small fridge. Parth took it out of the wrapper and then gave it to Prashanth and told him to eat it. Parth said - \"You put this heavy cart is such heat everyday, trying to make sure other people got ice-cream! Today let me buy you one.\"
Parth gave him 5 rupees and handed him the ice-cream. The boy refused for a while, but then ate it! He could not say anthing except had the biggest smile on his face. Parth smiled back and left.
Maybe we should start asking - Who can I bless today and not how can I get blessed today?
God Bless,
Yuva Family
