Breaking Barriers and Healing Lives: Dr. Hadiya Rohitkumar’s Journey from a Village to B.J. Medical College

Meet Dr. Hadiya Rohitkumar, whose story is a powerful testament to grit, self-belief, and the profound impact of timely educational support.

Roots of Resilience

Born and raised in a small village in Gujarat’s Amreli district, Hadiya grew up witnessing her family navigate steep financial hardships. Her father, the sole earner, works as a farmer, while her mother manages the household. Compounding their financial struggles, her father suffers from a critical chronic brain illness called trigeminal neuralgia, which requires lifelong, expensive medication.

Watching her parents face these daily adversities planted a deep-seated dream in Hadiya’s heart: she wanted to become a doctor to heal others and alleviate suffering.

Determined to carve out a path, she attended her village government school. Relying entirely on her focus and drive, she achieved exceptional academic milestones, scoring a remarkable 99.46 percentile in her 10th standard and following it with a stellar 99.60 percentile in her 12th standard.

Conquering NEET Without Coaching

Preparing for the fiercely competitive NEET examination without formal coaching is a mountain few manage to scale. With limited resources and no professional test-prep guidance, Hadiya leaned into pure self-study and unwavering discipline. Whenever doubt crept in, she anchored herself in a timeless line by Amitabh Bachchan: “Lahron se darkar nauka paar nahi hoti, koshish karne walon ki kabhi haar nahi hoti.”

When the results were announced, her relentless efforts bore fruit. She scored an incredible 637 out of 720 marks—an extraordinary feat for a self-taught student. This score earned her admission to B.J. Medical College in Ahmedabad, one of the premier medical institutions in Gujarat.

A New Hurdle and a Lifeline

Getting into medical school was a monumental victory, but sustaining life in the city presented an entirely new crisis. Managing hostel fees, college expenses, and daily living costs became overwhelming for her family. To cope, Hadiya even took on a part-time job, trying to balance rigorous medical textbooks with the demands of earning a living.

Today, Hadiya has successfully completed her MBBS studies and is currently undertaking her internship at Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.
