Today, we are sharing a profound story of empathy and innovation from the Curiosity Lab at Rajkiya Choti Jubilee School, Lucknow, a story that perfectly illustrates why we must invest in the creative potential of our youth.
The Power of Design Thinking: Sneha’s Story:
Sneha, a Grade 9 student, wasn’t just learning about technology; she was learning how to view the world through the lens of empathy. Supported by the Genpact Curiosity Lab program, Sneha was introduced to the rigorous Design Thinking methodology: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test.
While many see 3D printing as an abstract industrial tool, Sneha saw it as a bridge to a better life for her friend. She observed a classmate who struggled to write for long periods due to limited grip strength—a physical challenge that caused constant pain and fatigue during high-stakes exams.
The Innovation:
Using basic 3D design software and the lab’s 3D printer, Sneha developed a custom, ergonomic assistive pen grip. She meticulously measured her friend’s finger spacing and iterated on the design multiple times, adjusting the angle and weight based on direct feedback, until the final version provided the specific comfort needed. This simple piece of plastic allowed her friend to participate fully in class without the shadow of physical discomfort.
Building a Nation of Innovators:
Sneha’s story is a shining example of a much larger movement. At Yuva Unstoppable, we believe that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. This is why we have collaborated with visionary partners to establish hundreds of STEM and Robotics labs across India.
